BetBank picks compares bookmaker prices with fair prices to list positive EV bets, so the margin removal is done for you.
Worked example. Prices of 1.80 and 2.10 add to 103.17%. Proportionally the fair chances are 53.85% and 46.15%, so the fair prices are 1.86 and 2.17, compared with 1.80 and 2.10 offered.
What it assumes. That the margin is spread the way the method says. The methods agree on an even market and differ on long shots, where there is no single correct answer. A fair price from one bookmaker is still that bookmaker's view, not a fact.

A no-vig price, or fair price, is a bookmaker's price with the margin taken out, so the chances of all outcomes add to exactly 100%.
Proportional is the simplest and easiest to explain. Power and odds ratio remove more margin from long shots, which tends to match the favourite-longshot pattern in many markets. For an even two-way market they give almost the same answer.
It is a better estimate than the raw price, and it is the usual starting point for finding value, but it is still one bookmaker's opinion. A sharp bookmaker's no-vig price is generally treated as more reliable than a soft one's.
