Turn each price into an implied chance (1 / price) and add them up. A fair market adds to 100%; the amount over 100% is the bookmaker's margin, the vig or overround. Enter the price of every outcome below, two or more.

The live version
The odds screen puts every bookmaker's price for an event side by side, which shows where the margin is lowest.
Worked example. Two prices of 1.90 and 1.95 give a 103.91% book: an overround of 3.91% and a hold of 3.77%. A three-way market at 2.00, 3.50 and 4.00 is a 103.57% book, an overround of 3.57%.
What it assumes. That the prices are for the same market at the same bookmaker, and that the outcomes cover everything that can happen. A book under 100% means the prices come from different bookmakers and make an arbitrage, not that one bookmaker has a negative margin.

It is the margin a bookmaker builds into its prices, also called juice or overround. Because the implied chances add to more than 100%, a bettor staking on every outcome would lose the difference on average.
Overround is the amount the implied chances exceed 100%. Hold is that margin as a share of what is staked when stakes are balanced, so it is a little smaller: a 5.26% overround is a 5.00% hold.
It varies by sport, market and bookmaker. Main markets on popular sports are usually lowest, and props, futures and same game multis carry more. Compare the same market across bookmakers rather than relying on a rule of thumb.
